In media class we had to do different types of crafts for various reasons. For instance, our mask day was for me an awful thing!! I am very tactile defensive with my face. I had to sit there and let them put strips of plaster on my face!! It improved my defensiveness and also increased my patience, since I could not talk or smile (and our class was cracking up with jokes!!).

I have gone to school and graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. I love my field very much and think that everyone should know a little about what OT is and how it helps others. I have always wanted to heal the mind as well as the body - OT to the point! OT treats the whole person and not just the disability or injured areas. We want to help the individual improve their quality of life. We focus on what each INDIVIDUAL does in life and where they want be. WE DO NOT FIND JOBS, instead we help with the job site, or make modifications so individuals can get back to work. Our main focus is ADLs, activities of daily living, (for ex grooming, cooking meals, taking meds, dressing, etc) things that we do everyday and take for granted unless you have an injury, stroke, surgery, or any kind of accident. This is where OT comes in!! We help individuals get back to doing things that they were doing.. not all people are cured, some we have to made adaptations for, and some we teach a whole new method of doing things. If you have any questions feel free to email me on the contact page.... thanks for stopping in and reading a little about OT...

As therapists we work as a team with other professionals.  Doctors, nurses, aides, physical therapists, speech therapists, and also the family.

There are many areas of OT: pediatrics, geriatrics, inpatient accute care, outpatient, work hardening, home health, home evaluations, mental health, and many many more.....I hope I get you interested in a challenging career. I have found my place in life....
